Jaffar (Fire Emblem)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jaffar is a fictional character in the game Fire Emblem (Rekka no Ken in Japan).
As a young boy, Jaffar was found alive atop of a pile of corpses by the evil Dark Druid Nergal, who chose him to become his young and powerful apprentice. Jaffar became Nergal's "Angel of Death" and quickly became the most feared man in the world.
After Nergal took control of the Black Fang, Jaffar was named one of the "Four Fangs," the most elite group of fighters in the Black Fang. There were many people who questioned the authority of Nergal and his Morphs, especially the two Reed brothers, Linus and Lloyd.
Jaffar's first in-game appearance was when he assassinated Leila, a skilled spy of Lycia. After that incident, Leila's boss Hector and her best friend Matthew marked Jaffar as an enemy.
Once, Jaffar was badly injured from a mission. He soon fainted from his wounds. Nino, a young Mage who also was the stepdaughter of Nergal's right hand Sonia, saw Jaffar's wound and took care of the assassin. When Nino saved his life, Jaffar states that that was the first time he ever showed emotion.
Nino's first mission was to assassinate Zephiel, the Prince of Bern. Jaffar was assigned by Sonia to accompany Nino and was to kill her even if she succeeded, to avoid a scandal in Bern. Right before they enter the prince's chamber, Nino hears Zephiel praying to some divine presence (Elimine, perhaps?). He says he wants his father to accept him as his child and he wants his family to come back together. Jaffar knocks the prince unconscious and tells Nino to kill Zephiel, but she refuses to do so. Nino says that the prince is just like herself... wanting to be accepted. Jaffar becomes impatient and orders her to kill the prince; however, Nino tells Jaffar to not kill the prince, but kill her instead.
This act of self-sacrifice astonished Jaffar, who decided to spare Zephiel and let Nino escape as well. They both attempt to escape the prince's chamber, but they are caught by Ursula, the Blue Crow of the Black Fang. Ursula is surprised that Jaffar didn't kill Nino nor the prince, and hinders the way to Jaffar and Nino's escape. After hiding Nino in a safe position, Jaffar attempts to kill all the other Black Fang members attacking him. Fortunately Eliwood's Elite comes and rescues Nino, who searches for Jaffar. When she sees him, she tells him to escape with her. Soon he joins Eliwood much to Hector's dismay, who ends up reluctantly accepting this after Lyn and Eliwood remark on how he changes when he's addressed as Nino.
During his supports with Nino, Jaffar opens up to Nino, telling her about the first time he saw her and how he thought they were alike. If the A support is reached, Jaffar declares his love to Nino and can possibly become the father of her children, the twins Lugh and Rei.
During his supports with Matthew, the Ostian spy tries to assassinate Jaffar to avenge Leila, saying that he and other spies have kidnapped Nino, but a vision of Leila stops him and he lets Jaffar go, seeing that revenge is useless.
Jaffar is unlockable in Chapter 26x in Eliwood's story, and Chapter 28x in Hector's story.
How to Unlock:
-Talk to Nino with your Main Lord in the Chapter: Battle before Dawn
-Use newly acquired Nino to talk to Jaffar in Battle Before Dawn
-Be sure that both Nino and Jaffar survive Battle Before Dawn
After unlocking Jaffar, he can become very useful if he is equipped with a weapon with high critical hit rate. The Killing Edge, which Jaffar comes equipped with, is a nominal choice for use (though it does not last very long, especially if Jaffar continually fights in the fray).
