From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jadu CMS is a suite of content management system tools to enable non-technical management of web based content and electronic documents.
Originally founded by Suraj Kika and Richard Chamberlain in 1999, the system was first developed for the Department of Trade and Industry for the UK consultation portal for Oil and Gas and Renewable Energy. The Offshore-SEA or Strategic Environmental Assessment was the UK's first fully online Government consultation.
The software developed for the Offshore-SEA then became Jadu Content Management System Version 1 - and was implemented for scientific organisations in the UK as a means of non-technical publishing of complex electronic documents generated in MS Word or PDF format.
In 2001 the system was redeveloped in PHP and MySQL and Version 2 was deployed for UK Government and Local Authorities. Based on the e-GIF standards, the system was deployed at the beginning of the first acceptance and adoption of Open Source platforms within Government.
Although Jadu Content Management itself is a proprietary system, its architecture is cross platform and runs in many operating environments such as Windows, Linux, Solaris and Mac OS X
Jadu as a company successfully switched several UK Local Authorities from proprietary systems such as Windows, to the Debian Linux operating system.
In 2005, Jadu joined Google Inc as a GEP partner and successfully delivered over 20 Google Search Appliance systems into UK Government organisations.
Jadu have attained critical acclaim for their whole solution approach - including design, training and system implementation within their unique software license. Jadu's designer Lee Pilmore was the designer responsible for Lichfield District Council becoming the first UK Local Authority to win a Webby Award.
Jadu now deploy the Jadu CMS for commecial businesses, large enterprises and all areas of UK Government.
Jadu also develops Electronic Document and Records Management systems for Government and Enterprise business.
