[edit] Thanks for the welcome Longhair
Thank You for the welcome Longhair, I appreciate it, and as for editing, I do enjoy it. Here is a list of some pages I've created (you can view more on my User Page):
[edit] Jeremiah J. Sinkie
Hi there, welcome to Wikipedia. The bio page you created for yourself (Jeremiah J. Sinkie) is actually not acceptable for inclusion on Wikipedia — instead, the information you have out there should go onto your user page instead. (The bio page has been listed on Articles for deletion, and you can see the listing here.) Again, welcome, and hope you keep contributing! —Cleared as filed. 09:12, 5 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Cleared as filed.
Thank you for telling before you deleted my page, it took me a while to create it. Sorry it took so long for a response, but I was working all day today. I have moved all of the information to my User Page, please let me know if there is still a problem with it. I did notice that my page was called a "Vanity Page" and I was wondering if there was anything offensive or unacceptable on it, Thank You Jay 01:51, 6 November 2005 (UTC)
- Hi Jay — there's nothing offensive or unacceptable with it being in your User Page. (It's only a "Vanity Page" when it's in the main Wikipedia main space, so that it looks like any other encyclopedia article. User Pages are "vanity pages" by definition.) Good luck and happy contributing! —Cleared as filed. 02:33, 6 November 2005 (UTC)
- All right, thanks for the info. Jay 02:42, 6 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Re. Kingdom Hearts OST
To be honest, I'd completely forgotten that there was a US version of the soundtrack. So I guess you're right, since this is the English Wikipedia we should use the English title. So I guess if a US version of the KH2 soundtrack comes out, the Passion songs should be changed to Sanctuary. Geg 17:55, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:RugerBlackHawk-BluedFinish.jpeg
Thanks for uploading Image:RugerBlackHawk-BluedFinish.jpeg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you have questions about copyright tagging of images, post on Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags or User talk:Carnildo/images. 03:08, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Images
The problem with the images is that you (or someone else) put the template tag {{albumcover}} on them, which classifies them as "copyrighted but fair use" images, like all the commercial album covers out there. Fair use images cannot be used in the user space. Since you created them and own the copyright, you should put a different template tag on them: I'd recommend {{GFDL-self}} or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#For image creators for more details. Good luck! — Catherine\talk 20:17, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
- There's no need to re-upload an image when you need to retag it; just click on the image to get to the Image description page, then click "edit this page" like any other. Replace the {{existing tag}} with whatever your desired new tag is, and save. Since you have already re-uploaded, I will delete the old images for you.
- You put a box around your text by starting a new line with a space -- that tells the software to display it as "preformatted text", exactly as you typed it, without line wrapping or any other formatting.
Like this. See?
- When writing on user talk pages, it's common practice to put your comments at the bottom of the page, under a ==New header between equals signs, like this==. You can do this quickly and easily by clicking the "+" tab at the top of all talk pages, which will create a new section at the bottom for you. Hope that's helpful; happy editing! — Catherine\talk 20:51, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Where'd You Go - Front Cover.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Where'd You Go - Front Cover.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Page deletion
Your articles DJ Cheapshot, SpyTech Records, and 4-Zone (rapper) were speedily deleted by User:Tawker, citing criteria A7: "Unremarkable people or groups/Vanity Pages. An article about a real person, group of people, band, or club that does not assert the importance or significance of its subject. (See Wikipedia:Deletion of vanity articles for further guidance on this criterion)." I would suggest you review that guideline and Wikipedia:Notability (music). I'd tend to agree that these weren't entirely appropriate for speedy deletion -- they should have gone through Wikipedia:Proposed deletion or Wikipedia:Articles for deletion instead -- but I'm sorry to say I don't think they'd have fared too well there, either. If you can provide verifiable evidence that they meet at least some of the guidelines on Notability (music), then your best bet would be to take them to Wikipedia:Deletion review and see if they will agree to have them undeleted there. Good luck! — Catherine\talk 19:29, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Sq-lantern-justo-awards-05.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. [edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Alyson Michalka - 03.jpg)
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Alyson Michalka - 03.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. This image was orphaned because you forgot to provide the mandatory detailed fair-use rationale for its use. Yamla 03:43, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Sq-lantern-justo-awards-05.jpg
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Sq-lantern-justo-awards-05.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Note that any unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 03:47, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

- If you're going to choose to ignore me, I'm going to have to go with the same compromise I've had with people before on this issue. It's going to be pop rock, not pop/rock. 69.145.123.171 Hello! Wednesday, July 5, 2006, 07:12 (UTC)

Hello! Just wanted to let you know that [[Rap]] links to a disambiguation page, Rap. You created a lot of links to it, you might want to link to Hip hop music or Rapping instead. Thanks! Dreadlocke 02:22, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Creations
Sorry, but I was not aware of a source. I just removed her from that category because I saw nothing in the article to support it. This is a perfectly fine source [1] (though I am stunned that anyone born in California in 1989 would say something like that - but never mind). You should definitely restore it, and put something in the article about it, using this source, for future reference. Cheers, Mad Jack 20:52, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fixing vandalism
Ask them for citations! :)
The best way to handle real vandalism is just to keep reverting it; vandals get bored if the crap they add disappears within seconds or minutes. Slightly frustrating for you, but we really believe that soft security is more effective (and less confrontational, and less rewarding to the vandal) than other types of defense. I will add these pages to my watchlist and help revert any damage that is done.
Other options depend on whether it's the same username or IP address adding vandalism repeatedly -- if so, they should be warned to stop (you can do this yourself using the templates at Wikipedia:Vandalism), and if they persist, they can be blocked -- list them on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism.
If it's an array of different names/IPs, and if the vandalism is frequent and sustained over several days, the page can be temporarily semi-protected -- see Wikipedia:Requests for page protection.
Thanks for letting me know about the problem! — Catherine\talk 04:11, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:DJ Green Lantern - AND1 Streetball (The Official Video Game Mixtape) - CD.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:DJ Green Lantern - AND1 Streetball (The Official Video Game Mixtape) - CD.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
