Anyone know how Rudolph ended up with Jacques as his name when he was born Jacobus? Is it a nickname or a diminutive? Not knowing a lot about South African culture, I'm not sure. Peter1968 11:24, 10 November 2005 (UTC)

I am pretty sure it is a nickname which he has basically adopted as his real name. Jacobus doesnt have as nice a ring as Jacques. As a South African, I am not aware of Jacques being used as a diminutive. Banes 20:11, 30 November 2005 (UTC)

I was under the impression that Jacobus ends up as "Kobus" as a nickname. Oh well, you learn something every day. Peter1968 00:09, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
I personally have no idea, having limited knowledge of Afrikaans culture, I guess he just like Jacques more that Kobus.... Banes 09:15, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
