[edit] Character Page Updates
Kramar, I like your re-write and reorganization of the page quite a lot. Very well done. Only thing I'd change (which I did) are the headings, since the fictional delineation of the crash and life on the island feels a lot better on a fictional series page than "pre-series" and "series", in my opinion. Anyway, what are your thoughts on doing this on all of the character pages? It's my opinion that there's quite a bit of randomness going on in the formats. We have the content, but not the organization. Baryonyx 19:39, 19 September 2005 (UTC)
- I did a similar organization at John Locke (Lost) prior to knowing about one here. I think all the Lost character pages should have this same structure. I added themes and basic facts. Basic facts is almost exactly what we had back at Characters of Lost. I think a good additional section is themes. Perhaps not every character needs or has a running theme, but most obviously do such as Jack and Locke. I think these should be noted in the article. K1Bond007 07:02, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
- I'll look at what you've done at Locke shortly, since I'm doing the table for Flashback Characters on the Character page right now, but what I saw in my quick review of the Jack page looks great. If Locke looks like Jack, we have a winner, I think. I agree that we can add themes as important, especially as they relate to the themes cited on the main page. Now that these characters have more "room", we can do something very similar to what was originally on the character page, but with nicer formatting. Just need to keep all the speculation to a minimum, and keep page sizes down. Baryonyx 20:33, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Tattoo?
Is there any info on Jack's upper-arm tattoo? If it's a real tattoo, the producers haven't made any attempt to hide it. If it's fake (i.e. part of the show) then what is the meaning of it? Didn't Kate ask him about it and he brushed off the question?
- The tattoo in question is Matthew Fox's, but no attempts have been made to hide it, and it is worked in into the plot. Kate asks Jack about his tattoos in one of the eps.
- In a recent interview with Kristin on E! Online, Damon Lindelof explained that the tattoos are Matthew Fox's, but for Lost purposes, they are also Jack's. Matthew Fox is extremely secretive about the meaning of the tattoos in real life, butMr. Lindelof explained that the solution to what these tattoos mean for Jack is known and should be on the air this season (but season 3 is a possibility. I think tatoo info should be added as section to Jack's page. Feels kind of important. Noblige
[edit] Jack's father
Jack's father was confirmed to be dead by Jack Shephard in the hospital.
But, when Jack opens the coffin, in the epsisode that he finds the caves (Episodes of Lost (season 1) - White Rabbit), Christian (his father) is not in it
Have you wondered where "the body" might be?
Any thoughts about this? —Elremina (Talk | Contr | EC)--22:29, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
- We don't know and, as a Wikipedians, we don't care... he's not in the coffin, period. This is not a place to discuss this. NowotnyPL 17:12, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
- The boar probably got it. Morhange 23:14, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
Who knows? maybe he came alive. Stranger things have happened. (It will probably be the plot twist around Season 23 or so) :)
[edit] Does everybody hate him?
As I didn't see a "criticism" section of the article and was a bit wary of reading through the main text (I just finished season one and want to avoid spoilers) but my friends as well as numerous forum posters seem to think Jack is the worst character on the show. I happened to think he was one of the best characters, so I was wondering if this is a common thing to dislike Jack or if I'm not so weird in thinking he's cool... -albrozdude 05:13, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
- He's not so much a bad character, just boring. (Even the other characters think he's boring, like when Kate says "Nothing wrong with fun, Jack. You should try it some time.") Battle Ape 05:28, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Dr. Jack Shephard
Seeing as all the other pages for main characters include the characters' full title, should this page not be called 'Dr. Jack Shephard'? SergeantBolt 13:27, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- I was wondering that as well. I was just informed that the arctle titles are supposed to match the names given on ABC's website, which for Jack does indeed include the Dr.. DocNox 03:19, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Main Character Citation Needed
It's clear that he leads the show but apparently we need a citation so here's a site, http://www.tonight.co.za/?fSectionId=346&fArticleId=3117026 that says he was granted a $250 000 bonus for starring. "Needless to say, when offered the pivotal role of Jack, and now earning a cool $80 000 (R492 000) per episode plus a $250 000 (R1,5-million) bonus for the lead in the second season, he is now happy to move between theatre and TV. Not bad for a guy who was supposed to have been killed off in Lost's pilot episode." So can someone add it. I haven't learned how to cite sources using the new format yet. --154.20.217.225 17:57, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
- Done. ShadowUltra 15:49, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Jack Sheppard, jailbreaker
Does anyone think it's worthwhile to mention that Jack's name is almost identical to the name of a famous eighteenth-century criminal, Jack Sheppard? Solemnavalanche 04:53, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
