Jacula

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jacula is a progressive rock Italian band from the early 1970 decade, borned mainly from an experimentation of the occultist duette BARTOCCETI-NORTON, the organ performer Charles Tiring and the medium Franz Porthenzy. Their music is very innovative in the progressive background those years, and is considered very rare by most funs and analysts of this kind of music, specially back in the times of bands like Pink Floyd, Genesis or Gentle Giant, which are the basis of almost all of the new prog rock. Jacula is usually only compared with Devil Doll, which was as rare as Jacula was for the chronological environment.

The discography is not very large because the band was just an experiment and had even been tagged by the former founder Antonio Bartoccetti (who had composed and performed with a lot of other combinations of musicians from the underground italian prog rock scene in 1970) as a "youth error", but the 2 discs that the group conceived through their life are very complete and fruitful: "In Cauda Semper Stat Venenum" (1969) which has a superposition of organ and other dark sound effects over "Tardo Pede In Magiam Versus" (1973) which features Doris Norton in vocals, creating a sound much more influenced by other bands of the italian underground such as Le Orme.
