Jacob Hale Sypher

Jacob Hale Sypher (June 22, 1837 – May 9, 1905) was a member of the U. S. House of Representatives representing the state of Louisiana. He served four terms as a Republican.
Sypher was born near Millerstown, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the Union Army during the Civil War and would eventually become colonel of the Eleventh United States Colored Heavy Artillery. He then moved to Louisiana and eventually served as a member of Congress during Reconstruction. He then moved to Washington, D. C. to practice law. He died in Baltimore.
