Jacob Crow
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jacob Crow is the main antagonist in the TimeSplitters: Future Perfect first-person shooter video game.
The first reference to Crow is found in the 'Scotland the Brave' mission in 1924. Crow (only known as the Time Traveler at that moment) is then chased to 1969 where he allies with the evil genius Khallos.
Crow is then traced to 1994, where he was in charge of the Brotherhood of Ultra Science, a cult of scientists devoted to finding the secret of immortality. The research is a failure and most of the scientists and inhabitants of the mansion (the cover up for the Brotherhood's lab) are transformed into zombies. Eventually Crow is confronted by Cortez (main protagonist) but is given a time-traveling device by his future self.
Jacob Crow is later found in 2052, where he is the founder of the U-Genix Corporation. This time, Crows research was a little more successful and resulted in the creation of Mutants, predecessors of the TimeSplitters(who's right half oddly looked like John Vattic from Second Sight another game by the same company) with great strength, power to become temporarily invisible and shoot minor energy discharges, these mutants were the prototypes of the TimeSplitters. Crow is again confronted by Cortez but escapes by receiving a time-traveling device by his past self.
Using one of Crow's personal security-robots from 2052, he is traced to 2243, the Machine Wars (war between humans and robots) in the TimeSplitters series. 200 years later, Crow is still alive as a cyborg (the result of the quest for immortality) and is the founder of UltraNet and leader of the Machine faction of the war. He perfected his genetic research of the Mutants of 2052 and has created the TimeSplitters, a race of genetically modified 'humans' trying to wipe out the 'genetically inferior' humans. Crow is defeated once again by Cortez and travels back to 1924.
Back in 1924 Crow is once again disabled and Cortez destroys his first time machine and the time crystals (used in time travel), thus Crow being unable to save himself during the 1994 encounter with Cortez and never creating the TimeSplitters nor the Machines.
It should be noted that Crow follows a different time travel path than the Cortez. Crow likely takes the following path:
- 2052 - Crow's 1994 self gives himself the time travel device and 2052. Crow travels back (to 1994) to complete the loop.
- 1994 - Crow arrives, gives himself the device and goes to 1968 to obtain manpower.
- 1968 - Crow uses Khallos to get manpower to mine the island in 1924 (Which Cortez accidentally told him to do).
- 1924 - Crow uses Khallos's men to mine the Islands (also told to him by Cortez in 2052).
It isn't clear when Crow founds Ultranet (other than the fact that it is after he gives his younger self the time device in 1994).
