[edit] Claim to fame

Kate Beckinsale's half-sister, the actress Samantha Beckinsale, daughter of Richard Beckinsale from the popular BBC sitcom Porridge, was born in Jacksdale. John F. Kennedy, former U.S. president, once visited a farm in Jacksdale where he stayed whilst visiting his sister at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire.

[edit] Development

As of June 2005, five new dwellings have been erected during the past four years, two on Selston Road, two on the main road and one on Wagstaff Lane. The Skate park was built in 2004 and many new recreational facilities have been built, such as the memorial garden behind the community centre and the new footpath through the forge.

Jacksdale is a very attractive rural area of the countryside that offers a very high standard of education, however rising numbers in this village does not lead to a much prosperous future as older houses will need to be demolished in order to meet high demand, also "green belt" land may need to be used in order to fund this construction.
