Sigmund Esco "Jackie" Jackson (born May 4, 1951 in Gary, Indiana) is an American singer and musician, a former member of The Jackson 5, and the oldest son in the Jackson family that includes pop stars Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson. Jackson left a promising career in football to pursue his passion for music with his brothers.

[edit] Early life

Jackie released his solo debut in 1973 to capitalize on the Jackson 5 franchise the same way that younger brothers Jermaine and Michael had done. His self-titled debut failed to generate sales and none of the singles released were hits. Jackie put plans for a solo career on hold until 1989 when he released Be The One shortly after the release of the last Jackson Brothers album, 2300 Jackson Street. Peaking at #89 R&B, the album yielded two R&B hits, "Stay" and "Cruzin". Jackie hasn't released an album since.

His last performance was with his five younger brothers during a reunion performance at Madison Square Garden in 2001. He allegedly had a relationship with singer and choreographer Paula Abdul while he was still married, although reports have varied as to actual proof of a relationship. He has two children, including a son who is a rapper and goes by the name DealZ. Jackie currently lives in California with his family. He currently runs the family's record company Jesco Records with brothers Marlon, Randy, Tito, and Jermaine. All the brothers are signed to it, as well as many of their children.
