Jack Velvet is the popular Web comic from Dean Prefest. It can be seen at www.gocomics.com. It tells the tale of a washed-up 1970s Las Vegas lounge singer whose wife and best friend have mysteriously disappeared.
The story opens with Jack returning to Las Vegas after a three month tour of South America. Upon his return, he finds a curious "Dear John" note from his wife and a large reddish brown stain on the bathroom floor.
Jack mistakenly believes the stain to be nail polish. But after a few stops at local watering holes and some well-placed inquiries Jack realizes it was his wife's blood.
As Jack delves deeper into the mystery, he unravels a deliciously fabulous plot to overthrow the world!
Main Characters:
Jack Velvet: lounge singer, money-borrower. Back East: Jack's bookie friend, whereabouts unknown. Davis Jr.: Jack's African-American eyepatched Semite friend.
