Jack Scott is an American politician. He currently serves as a California State Senator, representing the 21st district.

Scott was born in Sweetwater, Texas. He attended Abilene Christian College, where he received a Bachelor's degree and a Master of Divinity degree from Yale University, as well as a Ph.D. degree in American history from Claremont Graduate University.
Scott and his wife, Lacreta have five children, one of whom died in 1993, and eleven grandchildren.

Prior to being elected to the California Legislature, Scott served as President of Pasadena City College from 1987 to 1995.
Scott was elected to the California State Assembly in 1996 and later elected to the State Senate in 2000.
Currently, Scott chairs the Senate Committee on Education and Senate Budget Subcommittee on Education.
