Jack Gatecliff Arena
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Jack Gatecliff Arena is the main arena in St. Catharines, Ontario. It was built in 1938 and was originally named the Garden City Arena. It was renamed for local sportswriter Jack Gatecliff when it was renovated in 1996. In 2006, a group including Steve Ludzik and Don Cherry announced their intentions to renovate and expand the building in hopes of landing a new Ontario Hockey League team; on May 17, 2006, The St. Catharines Standard reported that talks between city council and the group had ended, with council rejecting the offer.[1]
The arena is currently home to the St. Catharines Jr. B Falcons.
