Jack Edwards was a fictional character in the popular BBC1 soap opera EastEnders. He made his first appearance on 27 February 2006. He has a daughter called Honey, a dog called Dalgliesh and a canal boat called Patonia.
The character was to have been played by former musician David Essex, originally for only 3 weeks, but Essex pulled out when the role expanded and he was unable to commit to the increased time. The role was re-cast and Nicky Henson played the part.
Jack initially showed a strong dislike of Billy Mitchell, posing as a plumber to get to know the real Billy, his daughter's fiancée. He also has a crush on Peggy Mitchell.
Jack left Walford to complete a job, but returned in July for Billy and Honey's wedding and continued his outrageous flirting with Peggy. They got together, but split up when Peggy refused to accept Jack's newborn granddaughter, Petal, who has Down's syndrome. He reappeared again in November when Honey ran away from Billy and Petal and this was the first scene that viewers saw Jack's narrowboat.
