Jack Abbott (Y&R)

John "Jack" Abbott Jr. is a fictional character on US soap opera The Young and the Restless. The character is currently portrayed by Peter Bergman since 1989 and was played by the late Terry Lester from 1982 to 1989.

The oldest son of John Abbott Sr. (Jerry Douglas), the half-brother of Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) and the CEO of Chancellor Industries, Jack was once Genoa City's resident playboy, but has matured greatly over the years. After failed relationships with Jill Foster (Jess Walton) — who later became his stepmother — Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), Luan Voilen (Elizabeth Sung) and Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) (with whom he has a son, Kyle (Cooper and Oliver Guynes), Jack finally married and settled down with Jabot web designer Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford). The two divorced two years later, but remained close. Phyllis is now pregnant by Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow), with whom she had an affair.

In 2006, after a series of traumatic events, including his being ousted from Jabot as a result of a lawsuit, the death of his father and his having learned of Phyllis and Nick's affair, Jack became extremely bitter and began obsessively plotting against a number of individuals who he felt had wronged him, including Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper), Jill Abbott (who fired him from Jabot), and his stepmother Gloria Abbott (Judith Chapman) (whom he blamed for his father's murder conviction and imprisonment), as well as his longtime adversary Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).

Peter Bergman played Jack in an episode of the 1990s sitcom The Nanny. As Jack, he had scenes with the character Heather Biblow; (Pamela Anderson), much to the frustration of Fran Fine (Fran Drescher).
