Jacek Karpiński

Jacek Karpiński, pioneer in computer engineering and computer science. He is responsible for the construction of the first transistor-based differential analyzer and one of the first machine learning algorithms and techniques for character and image recognition. He is also the designer of one of the first minicomputers, the K-202, which because of communist suppression in the People's Republic of Poland at the time, was never mass produced. He founded the Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence of the Polish Academy of Sciences in the early 1960s.
