J Remy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

J Remy (pronounced Jay Rim-e) is a crossover hip-hop artist from Picayune, Mississippi. J Remy is often thought of as a contemporary Christian music artist based on the fact that he has professed the Christian faith in many of his interviews.

J Remy's most recent album, The Backwoods Legend has been praised by both Christians and non-Christians alike for not containing overtly Christian content in any of his tracks. The Backwoods Legend features guest spots by Kevin Max (of dc Talk) along with Bonafide (of Christian hip-hop group, GRITS) and mainstream hip-hop artist, Pigeon John.

J Remy has broken a plethora of records as an independent artist, including becoming the #1 most requested song on stations in California, Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee, and others.[citation needed] In addition, in late 2005 J Remy made a huge statement with his single, "You Don't Know Me" as it became one of the top songs on Christian's Billboard R&R Charts.

J Remy (real name, Jeremy Meeks) and his wife Jennifer live in Mississippi with their three children. He is currently being sponsored by Jefe' Clothing, which is owned by P.O.D. frontman, Sonny Sandoval and business partner, Ruben Torres.

From August 2006- October 2006, J Remy will be a part of Shoutfest, a Christian music tour featuring top names in Christian music, including: Superchick, Jars of Clay, By The Tree, Jump 5, and others.

In January 2007, J Remy will be taking part in the "21 Days of Change" Tour which will be visiting churches and ministries all across the United States encouraging Christians to step out of their comfort zone and become effective in their community.
