J.R. Ward is a New York Times and USA Today Best Selling author of the erotic paranormal romance, Black Dagger Brotherhood . She also writes contemporary romance under the name of Jessica Bird.

She currently lives in Kentucky with her husband. A graduate of Smith College, she majored in Art History and History. After graduating from law school, she began working in healthcare in Boston and spent many years as Chief of Staff of one of the premier academic medical centers in the nation. Writing has always been her passion and her idea of heaven is a whole day of nothing but her computer, her dog and her coffee pot ^[1].

J.R. finished her first romance manuscript the summer before her freshman year of college. 10 years later, and while working in Boston, she completed two more and started a number of partials. Both her mother and her husband kept telling her to send something in to an agent, or a publisher. Since getting published, J.R. has written Harlequin Silhouette Special Editions books, as well as single title contemporaries and paranormals. She has been a Rita Award finalist, received two Romantic Times Reviewer's Choice nominations and has been a HOLT medallion finalist ^[2].
