J. Craig Wright

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

J. Craig Wright is a former Republican justice of the Ohio Supreme Court who served in that office from 1985 to 1996.

In 1991, Wright reportedly engaged in a tussle with fellow Republican, Justice Andrew Douglas, over golf tee times. Wright said that Douglas knocked him to the floor with a blow. The Dayton Daily News reported that Douglas wrestled Wright onto a desktop.

Other reports said that the scuffle between Wright and Douglas was more than just over golf. The Chicago Tribune reported that the argument was over comments made by Wright regarding Douglas's secretary, Sue Pohlman, and alleged "snooping" by Wright in Douglas's computer files. The Tribune also reported that the tussle took place in front of fellow Justice Alice Robie Resnick and it ended only when two of Resnick's clerks separated Douglas and Wright.

After leaving the Supreme Court, Wright re-entered the private practice of law with the firm Chester, Willcox & Saxbe. In January 2004, Gov. Bob Taft appointed Wright to the state Chemical Dependency Professionals Board for a term expiring in December 2006.
