Järnkaminerna (The Iron Stoves) is the official supporter club of the Swedish sports club Djurgårdens IF. Järnkaminerna is also a nickname for the club Djurgårdens IF.

[edit] History

The nickname derives from the 1960s when Djurgårdens IF Fotboll was very well-known for their physique training and their rough play on the field. The stripes on the jersey make it look almost like an iron stove, after that period the team was known as "Järnkaminerna" (The Iron Stoves). Since then all sections of the club adopted the nickname among many others.

During the 1970s the younger and more hardcore supporters started to get more organized and in 1981 they formed "Blue Saints". Although the first supporters club was DIF Supporters Club, established 1947. Due to bad publicity, after numerous violent clashes, they reformed in 1997 and adopted the name "Järnkaminerna". Today they are one of Swedens largest supporters clubs in numbers, and even smaller sections are established outside Stockholm. Together with Fabriken they arrange tifo to almost every football match but also to other sports.

A common shortened form of the supporters club Järnkaminerna is JK.

  • Other supporter clubs: "DIF Supporters Club", "Sektion F" and "Fabriken".
  • Most infamous firms: "Djurgårn's Fina Grabbar" (DFG), "DY" and "DMG".
