Iyo, Ehime

Iyo (伊予市; -shi) is a city located in Ehime, Japan.
As of March 2006, the city has an estimated population of 40,608. The total area is 194.47 km².
On April 1, 2005, The city merged with the town of Nakayama and Futami from Iyo District to form the new city of Iyo.

- January 1, 1955-The city was founded by merging with one town and four villages from Iyo District.
- 1958-Parts of Hiraoka area in the town of Nakayama from Iyo District was merged into the city of Iyo.
- April 1, 2005-The city merged with the town of Nakayama and Futami from Iyo District to form the new city of Iyo.
