Ivesdale is located at 39°56′41″N, 88°27′25″W (39.944595, -88.456860)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.9 km² (0.8 mi²), all land.

Ivesdale is mainly known for its bars. Bridget's Blarney Stone, and Jim and Julie's Ivesdale Inn. The Blarney Stone serves excellent bar food with daily specials on food and drink, and has many Irish beers and whiskeys. One can become a member of the Irish Beer Drinking Team or the Irish Whiskey Drinking Team by consuming the proper pints or shots listed on an apprentice card. Karaoke can be enjoyed on the first and third Fridays of the month. Jim and Julie's is more of the dive type bar, with a DJ every other Saturday. The Ivesdale Inn features a shuffleboard table as well as 2 pool tables. It also has a Golden Tee machine and $1.50 Busch drafts every day. Contrary to popular belief, there is more to know about this town than meets the casual eye. Settled by almost exclusively Irish Catholics, at the turn of the last century it was home to 5 churches and it's graveyard is filled with the bones of many Great Lakes canal-diggers, among them the Murphy's, the Hannon's, and others. Great to see that their memory is touched upon by so many Irish-themed events and notables, probably most of whom have never set foot outside of the United States nor have much sympathy for the immigrant experience that lends it's now diluted strength to their Golden Tee adventures.
