[edit] History of Ivar
The Ivar Backpack and Ivar System concept was conceived in 1998 by Ian Ivarson while he was a high school student in Marin County, California. Ivarson's aim was to create better organization, weight distribution, and comfort within backpacks. During college at the University of Denver, Ivarson slowly developed the concept into a workable backpack or daypack product.
In April of 2002, Ivarson USA LLC was formed as the developer, manufacturer, and marketer of Ivar and Ivarson branded products based on the Ivar System. During this time, Ivarson USA was also granted patents in the USA protecting the Ivar System - internationally, patents are pending.
In July 2006, Ivarson USA began distributing their first Ivar Backpack model called the Ivar Urban, marketed as a daypack/dayhiker or student backpack.
[edit] Ivar System Patented Technology
The Ivar System is patented in the United States and is pending internationally. It encompasses an internal shelf design promoting unique organization, weight distribution, and comfort. There is also a design patent, encompassing the outside appearance of an earlier Ivarson Backpack model. All intellectual property is managed by Ivarson USA LLC.
