Ivan Ergić (Serbian Cyrillic: Иван Ергић; born January 21, 1981) is a Serbian football midfielder currently playing for FC Basel.
Ergić was born in Šibenik, a coastal town in Yugoslavia (now Croatia) but started his football career in Australia with Perth Glory. He has dual Australian-Serbian citizenship and trained at the Australian Institute of Sport on a government-funded football scholarship.
In 2000 Ergić moved to Juventus, but went on loan to FC Basel during the season, which later signed him for 1.6 million CHF. In June 2004 Ergić was treated for depression in the psychiatric university clinic in Basel, and his further career as a football player was in question at the time. Nevertheless, FC Basel kept him as a player and since 2005 he was on the pitch again.
He did not choose to play international football for Australia, and instead chose Serbia. On May 15, 2006 Ergić was named as a member of the national team for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
