[edit] John Strausbaugh

Hi, me again. I've tried to clean up the John Strausbaugh page, as I agree with the objections made by Jeffrey O. Gustafson (although certainly not with the methods by which he undertook them). His warning about not re-reverting was abrupt and could have been explained better: if you disagree with another editor (and it seems that he's acting as an editor here, and not an administrator) the thing to do is take it to the article's talk page and work out what's best for the encyclopedia. Simply reverting back to your version of the article is considered inappropriate, and people can indeed be blocked for doing it repeatedly without discussing first. You haven't been 'assigned' this administrator, as we never do that, and in fact Jeffrey couldn't block you on his own (WP:BLOCK#When blocking may not be used ensures that admins aren't allowed to do that themselves, although if you've violated policy then another admin certainly could).

Anyway, sorry for the rough start! I don't have anything against this guy (in fact I'd never heard of him before now), I just want to make sure that all articles on Wikipedia are written like an encyclopedia. The best way you could work on this article is to rebuild it, avoiding those peacock terms and promotional jargon and instead trying to approach it more in line with WP:NPOV. If you make a claim, be sure to reference it per WP:V. Do people disagree with him, or has he been involved in any kind of conflicts? Be sure to mention them too, to prevent it reading like a hagiography.

If you have any problems or need to know how to do anything, please ask me at my talk page, or at the help desk. I think you'll find that most people here are eager to explain how things work, as long as your motives in writing this article are 'pure' :) Good luck, Ziggurat 03:10, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
