The lira was the currency of Italian Somaliland between 1925 and ca. 1938. It replaced the Italian Somaliland rupia. Only coins were issued, in denominations of 5 and 10 lire. These circulated alongside Italian coins and banknotes. From 1938, banknotes of the Italian East African lira also circulated.
