It Ends Tonight is the 3rd single from the All American Rejects album Move Along. Contrary to their usual style, the song is a ballad. During a July 2006 airing of the PBS series Soundstage, the group revealed that the song was not written about a girl, but rather "a dude". The single peaked at #11 in the Billboard Magazine Hot 100 making the band's third top 20 hit. Due to the song's popularity, sales for Move Along the album are starting to increase. It skyrocketed the album from #88 to #47 the week of November 8th (2006).

The video premiered in the United States on August 28, 2006 on TRL.

The single was released in the United Kingdom on 25 September 2006.

[edit] Trivia

Part of the bridge for this song is "Now I’m on my own side. It’s better than being on your side". In the CD booklet, it is revealed that this is what Tyson wanted. However, Mike wanted "It's so cold on your side. It's better then being on the wrong si-i-ide".

Additionally during the live acoustic preformances Tyson changes the lyrics to "Just give me a sign, to make this right." as opposed to "just a little insight"

In Smallville Season 6, the whole of this song was played and sung on the set.

The song was also ranked #1 on the iTunes most sold songs chart.

The song peaked at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 after only it's 7th week, meaning it already passed Move Along's peak.

This is the first music video that doesn't feature Nick Wheeler's trademark Firebird guitar. As a matter of fact, this is also the first video in which Mike Kennerty is NOT playing a Gibson SG guitar, and the first to feature Tyson Ritter playing his main bass guitar.

In Laguna Beach, this song was played when Rocky broke up with her boyfriend.
