It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Deathwish is the eleventh song on My Chemical Romance's second album Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge, and is not yet a single, nor is it planned on being made one.

[edit] Song Meaning

The song deals with a man who, according to some, was killed (This hole you put me in wasn't deep enough... I'm coming back from the dead..) but became undead, and is now seeking revenge. However he becomes increasingly paranoic about being killed again (You talk to me, but would you kill me in my sleep?... Promise me that when I'm gone you'll kill my enemies...). He sings the song to someone (dubbed Helena by some) who is hiding from him (You're running out of places to hide from me...), and in the end he found him/her, and possibly killed them (When you go just know that I will remember you...). He had gone through all that trouble, and became mentally disturbed (I lost my fear of falling...), only to commit suicide (We'll then one day be together...).

[edit] Trivia

This song is listed as both It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Fucking Deathwish and It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Deathwish in the album, and elsewhere as It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Deathwish, and fans refer to it as the latter.

The line "you get what everyone else gets: you get a lifetime" is a near-quotation from The Sandman #43 by Neil Gaiman, in which Death says "You lived what anybody gets, Bernie. You got a lifetime. No more. No less."
