Istočno Sarajevo (Serbian Cyrillic: Источно Сарајево; English: East Sarajevo) is a city in the Republika Srpska adjacent to its capital Sarajevo to its northeast. It is not a highly urbanized area despite officially being a city as it is basically the pre-war part of Sarajevo now in Republika Srpska.

[edit] Name
It was previously known as Srpsko Sarajevo (Српско Сарајево, Serb Sarajevo) but the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina adjudicated its name change.
[edit] Population
Due to the changes in the municipal borders due to the war, it is only possible to estimate the city's population at 80,000 to 100,000.
