I've used the general format of the Arab-Israeli conflict template and changed it. Amoruso 05:33, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Problems with duplication

A lot of the massacres are duplicated in the main list as well as in multiple linked lists of terrorist attacks. For example, we are currently linking directly to Maxim restaurant suicide bombing in the list. It is also listed in the linked list List_of_massacres_committed_during_the_Al-Aqsa_Intifada and in the linked list List_of_Palestinian_Islamic_Jihad_suicide_attacks. I am not arguing against inclusion but rather that we should try to only include each event in the conflict once in the template. --Deodar 04:38, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

The reason I did it like that was because I wanted to highlight the main events - these suicide bombings were generally the biggest(some of the more famous ones, though it might always be arbitrary and own impressions) so I thought they deserved their own. We can leave it to the actual main lists but that will go for many events. For example, I did the same with 1948 massacres leaving both the list but Deir Yassen and Haddash convoy highlighted. I think, personally, there's enough room to have the big events highlighted on their own as well. The multiple lists are unavoidable since Islamic Jihad attacks were both before and after the al aqsa intifada for example. This is all historical edits by users who have made things as they are... that's why I put the islamic jihad attacks in the 1990's period (of course what we really need is an article describing the terrorist attacks during the oslo process which doesn't exist). People can access it and stop when they get to the year 2000's... same thing goes for assassinations in al aqsa intifada which includes for example operation wrath of God! Too difficult to avoid duplicates but IMO it's harmless... you think it's bad ? Amoruso 05:33, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Proposed new section

We have "influences" with flags of countries listed underneath them. How about a section for influential international organizations like the Muslim Brotherhood. I know Hamas branches from this, but that is a very little mentioned fact in the MSM. It would be helpful to make that more explicit. Elizmr 17:32, 13 October 2006 (UTC) Whoops never mind I see that they are combined. Elizmr 17:33, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Not sure how relevant MB is currently but probably as relevant as Irgun and Lehi. --Deodar 17:38, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
You should read this section of the Hamas article -- how it was nurtured by Israel as an alternative to the PLO: Hamas#Before_1987_-_Palestinian_Islamic_activities_prior_to_the_creation_of_Hamas. --Deodar 17:42, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
Hamas is a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. Hamas is currently the party in power in the PA. How is that not relevant? And yeah, I'm aware of the history you post---not a great move IMO :=) (but thanks for your continuing attempts to educate me). Elizmr 18:14, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Addition to title

I think it would be nice if under the name Israeli-Palestinian conflict it will say "Part of the Arab Israeli conflict" and direct either to the template or the article. Amoruso 00:47, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Comprehensive vs. usable

This is so massive, it is hard to imagine it being appropriately used as a template on an article. Conversely, quite a bit is missing: for example, there is no listing here of UN Resolutions, and many articles related to the conflict are not linked. - Jmabel | Talk 02:19, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Templates overlapping

Could someone fix the problem of Template:Israeli-Palestinian Conflict and Template:Arab-Israeli Conflict overlapping each other. Like in Munich_massacre#Other_resources. A basis for comparison can be found at KAWE#External_links, as the two more basic templates there do not overlap. - RoyBoy 800 00:38, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
