Isohypse
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An isohypse is a line of equal or constant elevation on a graph, plot, or map; an isopleth of elevation. Often used in topographic maps. By following contour lines of same height, an indication of the topography relating to altitude, and therefore the shape of the terrain can be established. This concept is used too in meteorology to join the line of equal geopotential height and thus finding the pressure pattern at higher level.
The process of drawing isohypse contour lines on a map is called isopletion.
