Isn't Anything (1988) |
Loveless (1991) |
Isn't Anything is the official debut album by My Bloody Valentine, released in November 1988 after three years of issuing EPs and mini-LPs. Although it is usually not held in as high regard as the vaunted follow-up Loveless, Isn't Anything was still a pioneering release for the shoegazing movement of the late 1980s and early 1990s.

[edit] Style
Displaying a strong Cocteau Twins and The Jesus & Mary Chain influence, Isn't Anything established itself as one of the leading albums in the shoegazing movement. The album is comprised of burned-out torch-style songs ("Lose My Breath," "No More Sorry," and "All I Need"), jagged grunge onslaughts ("You're Still in a Dream," "Feed Me With Your Kiss," "Sueisfine") and dream-pop surfaces ("Cupid Come," "I Can See It But I Can't Feel It"), linked together by the band's use of pop hooks, indie-rock intensity and pure noise.
