Islena Airlines

Islena Airlines (Islena de Inversiones SA de CV) is an airline based in La Ceiba, Honduras. It operates scheduled and charter passenger flights to Miami and to destinations in Honduras and the Cayman Islands as part of the TACA regional airline system.

Islena is one of five airlines comprising TACA REGIONAL (www.tacaregional.com). As a group, TACA REGIONAL covers Central America, all the way from Cancun Mexico, down to the San Blas Islands of Panama.
Islena is TACA REGIONAL's Honduran affiliate. Operating 36 and 48 seater aircraft, Islena is based in La Ceiba (LCE), but operates daily to San Pedro Sula (SAP), Tegucigalpa (TGU), Roatan (RTB), and Guanaja (GJA).

The airline was established in 1981 by Arturo Alvarado Wood and started operations on 31 March 1981. Initial services were between La Ceiba and Roatán. TACA has a 20% stake in the airline.

Islena Airlines operates the following services (at January 2005):
- Domestic scheduled destinations: Guanaja, La Ceiba, Palacios, Roatán, San Pedro Sula, Tegucigalpa and Útila.
- International scheduled destinations: Grand Cayman.
