Island Transit (Washington)

Island Transit is a "Fare Free" transit system in Island County, Washington serving Whidbey Island, Camano Island, and the towns of Mt. Vernon, Washington and Stanwood, Washington. The system consists of fixed-route service, paratransit, and vanpool. It is funded by 6/10th of 1% sales tax in Island County. Prior to 2000 that figure was 3/10th of 1%, with additional funds coming from the Washington State Motor Vehicle Exsize Tax, which was reduced to a flat $30 per vehicle by the passage of Initiative 695 in 1999. Island Transit operates from 3:45am to 7:45pm, Monday through Friday, and from 7am to 7pm on Saturday. The busses do not operate on Sundays, except for special service the operates during major Island events, like the Island County Fair.

    • Route 1 "Northbound" - Clinton to Oak Harbor, via Bayview, Freeland, South Whidbey State Park, Greenbank, and Coupeville.
      • Route 1 "Northbound Express" - Clinton to Oak Harbor, via Bayview, Freeland, Greenbank, and Coupeville. (Reduces travel time to 1 hour).
  • Route 2 "West Oak Harbor" - Loop around west and north Oak Harbor, serves NAS Whidbey.
  • Route 3 "East Oak Harbor" - Lood around east Oak Harbor, and Whidbey Island NAS enlisted housing.
  • Route 4 "Deception Pass" - Oak Harbor to Deception Pass.
    • Route 411W "County Connector" - Oak Harbor to Mt. Vernon.
  • Route 5 "Saratoga Loop" - Langley to Freeland and the Honeymoon Bay community, via Saratoga Rd.
  • Route 6 "West Beach and Keystone" - Oak Harbor to Keystone, via the West Beach community and Coupeville.
  • Route 7 "Freeland/Clinton via Langley" (or "Langley Loop") - Clinton to Freeland, via Langley and Bayview.
  • Route 8 "Scatchet Head" - Clinton to Bayview, via the Scatchet Head community and Langley.
  • Route 9 "City Shuttle" - West Oak Harbor.
  • Route 10 "City Shuttle" - East Oak Harbor.
