[edit] Isaac Eastgate
Some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Isaac Eastgate may not be sufficiently well-known to merit articles of their own. No, they do not pay me. I volunteer my time to help the project because I believe in it. And while vandalism is occasionally funny, it's detrimental to the project overall and contributes even more work to the already over-burdened administrators and vandal fighters. Please consider helping our project, not hurting it. -- Merope 22:05, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:1153611690 s.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:1153611690 s.gif. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.
Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Saxifrage ✎ 19:39, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
- If the copyright holder of the original image that the one you uploaded is based on has granted permission for general use under the GFDL, then this needs can be recorded official in two ways. (1) An email can be sent from an official email address associated with the copyright holder to "permissions AT wikimedia DOT org" with licensing information. (2) The copyright holder can indicate on their official website that the image is available for reuse under an open license such as the GFDL or one of the commercially-compatible Creative Commons licenses.
- There is a separate concern though. If the copyright on the image is owned by someone you know personally, it may be inapproprate for you to be writing an article about the associated band. See Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for more on the problems with writing about subjects with which you are personally involved. — Saxifrage ✎ 19:53, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
If the image was derived without permission from the band's logo, then it's definitely not usable by Wikipedia for any purpose. As it is now, the image will be deleted in seven days, so we can leave it at that.
On the subject of the article, there's nothing wrong with being a fan and writing about it. :) I added some {{citation needed}} tags to some of the statements of fact that need to be backed up with reference to some kind of publication. Tracking down information that supports the article will make the article better-quality. — Saxifrage ✎ 20:30, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
