Isabella, Duchess of Lorraine

Isabella (1400 – February 28, 1453) was Duchess of Lorraine from 1431 to her death.
She was a daughter of Charles II, Duke of Lorraine and Margaret of the Palatinate. Her maternal grandparents were Rupert of Germany and Elisabeth of Nuremberg, daughter of Burgrave Frederick V of Nuremberg and Elisabeth of Meißen.
Isabella inherited the duchy from her father and ruled with her husband, Duke René of Anjou, also Duke of Bar and King of Naples. She led an army to rescue her husband from the Duke of Burgundy.
They had the following issue:
- John II of Anjou and King of Naples (1425-1470)
- Yolande of Anjou (1428-1483), married Frederick of Lorraine, count of Vaudemont; mother of duke René II of Lorraine
- Margaret of Anjou (1429-1482), married king Henry VI of England
- plus seven others who died in childhood
