Iron Triangle (South Richmond), Richmond, California

South Richmond or the Iron Triangle is a neighborhood in Richmond, California. It is mostly residential with businesses along Macdonald Avenue, Cutting Blvd. and Interstate 580. The neighborhood is defined by the 3 major railroad tracks in Richmond that form a rough triangle. At the street level it is roughly bordered by the Richmond Parkway to the west, Carlson Blvd. to the east and I-580 to the south. The area is home to Martin Luther King Junior Park which is a major weekend attraction for barbeques and soccer matches. The large playground attracts kids all day long. AC Transit provides service to the Richmond and El Cerrito del Norte BART stations with lines 74 and 76; Golden Gate Transit provides service from the BART stations though this neighborhood to Marin County.
It is also known as a high crime area. Residents are attempting to reverse the image in a number of ways.
