Iron Realms Entertainment
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Iron Realms Entertainment (formerly known as Achaea LLC) is a computer game development company that has created the MUDs "Achaea, Dreams of Divine Lands", "Aetolia, The Midnight Age", "Imperian, the Sundered Heavens" and "Lusternia, Age of Ascension". Iron Realms Entertainment is known for three things:
1. Supporting its games through the sale of virtual items.
2. Heavy player-based political systems in its games.
3. Complex combat systems in its games.[1]
Each game gives users the option of buying credits, which can be used to expedite the learning of skills, used as a special currency, and even be sold for in-game gold.
Iron Realms Entertainment is currently developing two games:
- A text MUD game based on author Raymond E. Feist's Midkemia world, for which Iron Realms has exclusive license.
- Earth Eternal, a graphical MMO that has not been formally announced, but which its CEO, Matt Mihaly, has announced on his blog. [2]
It also created the Rapture virtual world engine, which is being used by all four of its flagship MUDs. The engine used to be available for commercial licensing but this is no longer true. [1]
Rapture was used to develop an interactive chat system was in conjunction with a United Nations affiliated organization for the 7th Annual World Summit of Young Entrepreneurs[3].
