Ireland will choose their entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 using the Late Late Show Eurosong special, which will take place on 16 February. RTE has internally selected the Co Sligo based traditional Irish band Dervish, to represent Ireland in Helsinki. Dervish are one of the most prominent ambassadors of traditional Irish music and have performed to audiences around the globe. Interest has surrounded the song selection since Dervish are known for their capability of performing in English and Irish. If Dervish sings in Gaelic it would be the second time Ireland has performed in a language other than English since 1972.

The song submission has been opened to all citizens and non-citizens of Ireland until 8 January 2007. Submitted songs will be judged by two preliminary judging panels, which will eventually select four songs to compete on the special evening.
