IRCLang

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

IRCLang is a small IRC network that focuses on languages and learning languages online. Due to the fact that language-learning channels are rather scattered throughout the multiple IRC networks, and sometimes lack decent IRC bots to help the users in learning the specific language, IRCLang was created in March, 26th 2006 by an enthusiastic part-time language teacher.

IRCLang's codebase is UnrealIRCD, and its services set is based on Anope. There are currently no other modules than the default ones loaded in IRCLang.

IRCLang is funded through Google AdSense Service, but donations are always welcome. Apart from being a one-server network, which minimizes netsplit at the cost of load balancing and stability, this network is known as the first IRC Network created for language teachers and learners. Its aim is to centralize all the language learning amateur and elites as well as organizations, to become another source language learners could turn to when they are online. But IRCLang also welcomes other channel which are not geared towards language-learning, thus an #idlerpg channel already exists there for RPG amateurs.
