[edit] Validity

The validity of this page has come into question. As I am the creator of the entry I shall toss the first chips on the table on this matter.

From What Wikipedia is Not: "You are free to write about yourself or projects you have a strong personal involvement in. However, do remember that the standards for encyclopedic articles apply to such pages just like any other, including the requirement to maintain a neutral point of view..."

iQcuties is a project in which I am involved. It is my opinion that the concept is unique enough and has garnered enough public interest to make it significant—its inclusion in Wikipedia ads to the value of the general body of knowledge and augments the quality of the user experience.

I have attempted to present the site with a NPOV. I welcome any suggestions on this matter. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Geneffects (talkcontribs) 06:38, 30 June 2006 UTC.

The major issue I have is a lack of reliable sources which would make the article verifiable. Have you received press? Has someone written about this site in a book, magazine, journal, etc.? I tried to find any good information from such a source, and found none, which is why I nominated it for deletion. Ziggurat 21:45, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
Ziggy, I agree with you and now better understand the contention that has met this article. iQcuties is going to be featured in newspapers in about a week. If the Wikipedia community could wait until then, the vefifiability req. will be met. 71.65.206.62 14:13, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
The best place to mention such a request (and actually the best place to be having this discussion) is not here, but at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/IQcuties. If it's going to be featured (and not just as an advertisement or a link in a 'hot sites on the Internet' sidebar) in newspaper articles you should be able to recreate the article then, even if it gets deleted now. If you're writing about your own projects on Wikipedia, you should also read WP:VAIN and WP:AUTO. We are all naturally biased in favor of our projects; otherwise we wouldn't do them. As your work becomes noted, somebody will add an article here. Best to wait for that. --William Pietri 23:39, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
Of course, and I realize this. You'll not that the article only one paragraph. I began it as a stub, a seed, to encourage those less biased than me to make additions. I'm sure that the average Wikipedia user is much more inclined to make edits than to start a new entry. Therefore my goal for the article was to lower the barrier of entry for other writers without providing so much content that they would feel there was nothing left to add. 71.65.206.62 14:13, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
