How? It's a secretive organization. This is one of those things where you have to trust popular knowledge. And it is as stated in the article: literally "the northerners", word-play: "etarrak of the North". --Sugaar 18:58, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
But etarra is not proper Basque. Basque language sources prefer etakide. Anyway there are those who interpret as you say. Maybe there is a founding communiqué? --Error 21:23, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
You do have a point, Error. Still etarra is colloquial and most common. Maybe the pun is just some journalist interpretation.
Literally the name means just that "the northerners". Wether there is a double meaning to it is maybe arguable. --Sugaar 22:46, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
