iostat (input/output statistics) is a computer operating system monitoring tool used to collect and display input and output device statistics.

The iostat tool is available on most UNIX operating systems, as well as other non-UNIX operating systems such as Linux. The syntax and output of iostat often differs slightly between different operating systems.
