Ion Timofte

Ion Timofte (born 16 December 1967) is a retired Romanian football player, usually playing as attacking midfielder or left winger.
He was born in Anina and debuted in Divizia A with Politehnica Timişoara in 1989. He only played two seasons in Romania before joining Portuguese team Futebol Clube do Porto. He spent three seasons with Porto, winning the league title in 1992 and 1993,becoming a fan favourite because of his scorching long distance ability. Ion Timofte spent the next six seasons with Boavista FC.
Timofte made his debut for the Romanian national team in 1991 against Switzerland. He got his last cap in 1995, bringing the total tally to 10 caps and 1 goal.
