Interstate 485 (Georgia)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Interstate 485 (abbreviated I-485) was originally planned to run from Interstate 75/85 (the Downtown Connector), just north of downtown Atlanta, USA, east to the Stone Mountain Expressway (U.S. 78). A highway interchange was built for it, but the remainder was blocked by community opposition. Activists in the neighborhood of Morningside were the first to fight the road, and formed coalitions with other areas.
It was then intended to switch roads, turning north on what was to be Interstate 475, to Interstate 85 at what is now Georgia 400. That too was stopped.
The final use of the number in Georgia was for the proposed Outer Perimeter, which like the first two, was also stopped.
