Interstate 475 (Michigan)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Interstate 475 (abbreviated I-475) is an interstate highway in the U.S. state of Michigan. I-475 is a 16.99-mile bypass route that serves the downtown area of Flint while I-75 passes through the west side of the city. Many area motorists prefer it to the mainline I-75, as it carries far less traffic and is less prone to delay.
It is known as the U.A.W. Freeway for its entire length, honoring the United Auto Workers labor union, which was first organized in Flint. It was first named the Buick Freeway, but was renamed in 1982-1983. At the same time, the name of I-69/M-21 in Flint is changed from the "Chevrolet Freeway" to the "Chevrolet-Buick Freeway".
The southern terminus is at exit 111 of I-75 south of Flint and west of Grand Blanc. The northern terminus is at exit 125 of I-75/US 23 northwest of Flint.
