Interstate 220 (Louisiana)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Interstate 220 (abbreviated I-220) in Louisiana is an east-west loop around Shreveport, Louisiana, in the northwest corner of the state. The eastern terminus begins at Interstate 20, exit 17B, close to the Louisiana Downs racetrack. The route proceeds north through northern Bossier City, Louisiana around Shreveport. It meets Interstate 20 about 17 miles west. The route becomes Louisiana Highway 3132 south of Interstate 20, and continues south and east, through an interchange with Interstate 49 and beyond to the Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. There have been proposals to extend the highway further, over the Red River and onward to complete the loop by reaching Interstate 20, but Barksdale Air Force Base is in the way of a direct route to join up with the beginning of I-220. Google Maps even show ghost ramps for a possible extension southward from its terminus with Interstate 20.
