Interstate 205 (abbreviated I-205) in California is a short connecting Interstate Highway between Interstate 5 and Interstate 580 south of the town of Lathrop. There are two principal urban areas along the small stretch of interstate, Tracy and the new town of Mountain House.

Business Loop 205 shield

Most of the stretch of Interstate 205 parallels the Historic U.S. Highway 50, which is now designated as Business Loop 205. Business Loop 205 is only a couple miles shorter than its parent route, with its eastern terminus at Interstate 5. Although it is well-signed along the route, signs along 205 refer to its actual name; Eleventh Street.

Interstate 205 is frequently congested, as it is the main route between the San Francisco Bay Area and the Stockton/Modesto/Manteca areas of the Northern San Joaquin Valley and is only four lanes wide in its entire length. On September 30, 2005, The Modesto Bee reported that funding has been approved to widen I-205 to six lanes between Interstate 5 and 11th Street (BL-205) in Tracy.[1]
