International Trade Canada
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The International Trade Canada (ITCan), legally the International Trade section of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, is the department in the government of Canada with responsibility for import/export and international trade policies.
The department was created in December 2003 during a reorganization of the federal government which saw the former Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade split into two departments.
On February 15, 2005 the legislation to legally remove DFAIT from the books and establish a Department of International Trade did not pass the first vote in the Canadian House of Commons. Future legislative changes are unclear at this time.
