International Space Agency

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The International Space Agency (ISA, Star Trek) is a common device in near-future and quasi-modern science fiction, where it usually serves as a stand-in for NASA while also representing the potential of a truly international consortium dedicated to space science and exploration.

The appearance and motifs of the ISA, when illustrated, are usually very similar to those of NASA at the time of the work's publication. This is especially true of ISA logos.

The ISA is perhaps most commonly encountered in televised science fiction - examples of the fictitious agency's use may be found in popular shows such as Farscape and the new Outer Limits. There are also occasional references to an International Space Agency in the Star Trek series (see Memory Alpha's International Space Agency article).
